Dealing With Intestinal Discomfort

Dealing with Intestinal Discomfort

Do you suffer from uncomfortable bloating and abdominal pain? Everyone has intestinal gas. In fact, some people pass gas more than 20 times a day. Usually, it’s just a normal part of the digestion process.

But what do you do if your gas is making you uncomfortable, or it seems to get worse when you eat certain foods? There are lots of different things that could be going on inside your gut to cause discomfort.

Here are three of the most common issues, and what you can do to help avoid them:

Inflammation from Food Issues

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said, “All disease begins in the gut.”

These days, when people opt for convenience and “dinner” often means a pre-packaged meal or fast food, inflammation can be more present than ever before. More people are complaining of chronic fatigue, joint pain, constant illness, and digestive issues and experts say it’s because of the food we eat.

One surprising issue you may not be aware of?  Inflammation. The human body uses inflammation to help prevent illness and protect the body from further harm, but did you know that some foods actually trigger an inflammatory response that can be unhealthy?

When you eat a diet that increases inflammation, it can also set you up for other chronic conditions such as heart disease, Crohn’s, diabetes, and obesity. Here are three common foods known to be linked to inflammation in the body:

  • Table sugar: Processed sugars can trigger the release of inflammatory messengers called cytokines. Look for ingredients ending in “ose” (fructose, sucralose, etc.) and try to avoid those.
  • Refined carbs: White flour products like bread, crackers, white rice, and French fries fuel the production of advanced glycation end products that stimulate inflammation.
  • Gluten: People with gluten sensitivities have an autoimmune response that damages the small intestine when they eat products that contain wheat, barley, or rye.

Digestive Enzymes

Digestive enzymes are substances produced by our bodies to help us digest the foods we eat –and healthy digestion allows our bodies to absorb the nutrients it needs to function properly.

As we age, our bodies produce fewer of the enzymes needed to properly break down food, and without these enzymes, undigested food passes into the colon.  In addition to causing bloating and gas, this can also lead to inadequate uptake of critical nutrients.

Luckily, it’s possible, and very easy, to replace the enzymes necessary for proper digestion of food and absorption of nutrients.  Various studies have confirmed the beneficial effects of using digestive enzyme supplements, with patients reporting fewer episodes of abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, flatulence, and more.

Probiotic Enzymes

Probiotic enzymes are often marketed as digestive enzymes and claim to help similar digestive issues, but they actually perform very different functions within the body. In a nutshell: enzymes help digest food while probiotics help maintain overall gut health, as well as providing important immunity benefits for the whole body.  Both enzyme types are critical pieces of the puzzle, and the probiotic enzymes help ensure a healthy colony of probiotics can help support the overall enzymes your body produces.

The body can’t manufacture probiotics, so they must be added through supplements and diet. One way is through adding fermented foods, like yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut, to your diet. Another way is to add probiotic supplements to your routine. Look for a formula that contains a variety of different strains rather than just one or two different bacteria, since each strain does something different for your body.

Solution: The BioSet System

The BioSet System is based on the idea that the gut and brain are intimately connected. If a person is consuming food or beverages that they are intolerant to, have sensitivity to or do not digest, it will cause stress on the digestive system which in turn, causes stress on the brain and immune system.

We can eliminate the root cause of sensitivities and illness by ensuring the complete digestion of foods using a variety of enzymes aimed at detoxifying and reinvigorating your body with vitamins & minerals and utilizing the BioSET System to ReSET imbalances in the body. If nothing seems to work for you and you’re sick of feeling tired and bloated, schedule your free consultation today and get back on the road to optimal health.
